Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson won’t be writing a faculty capturing episode of the present.

After the May 24 shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas that killed 19 college students and two academics, Brunson mentioned she was inundated with messages asking her to include a faculty capturing into Abbott Elementary, the present she created and stars in about fictional Philadelphia elementary faculty.

“wild how many individuals have requested for a faculty capturing episode of the present I write,” Brunson tweeted on May 25. “persons are that deeply faraway from demanding extra from the politicians they’ve elected and are as a substitute demanding ‘leisure.’ I can not ask ‘are yall okay’ anymore as a result of the reply is ‘no.’

Abbott Elementary premiered in December 2021 and was renewed for a second season in March. Brunson performs Janine, a second-grade instructor on the faculty, with an ensemble that includes Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

In one other tweet, Brunson inspired these by asking for her to jot down about a faculty capturing to as a substitute “use that power” towards elected officers who can present change. She added, “I’m begging you.”
