EXCLUSIVE: A function about legendary Hollywood director Sam Peckinpah’s wild plan to finance his closing movie with backing from Colombia’s Cali Cartel is being offered in Cannes.

Avatar Entertainment is dealing with gross sales for If They Move… ‘Kill Em, with Colombian director Carlos Moreno — know for Netflix movie Dogwasher, upcoming collection Roles en Contra and Sundance titles Dog Eat Dog, The Snitch Cartel and Live Forever — additionally hooked up. Kel Symons is the author.

The script tells the story of legendary Nineteen Sixties and Nineteen Seventies director Peckinpah, who after burning all bridges in Hollywood determined to finance his closing movie via the one individuals prepared to spend money on him: the Colombian drug cartel in Cali, Colombia. After he and the cartel have ‘inventive variations,’ Peckinpah and his affiliate are kidnapped and held within the Amazon jungle. He then escapes captivity and has to seek out his method via the damaging jungle, evade armed fighters trying to find him, and discover his method again to the US. 

“When I learn the script to If They Move… Kill ‘Em I used to be surprised by how compelling the story of Sam Peckinpah’s journey to Colombia was,” stated Moreno. “Being an enormous fan of Peckinpah I couldn’t imagine the script was based mostly on a real story.

“The author, Kel Symons, does a superb job describing Peckinpah’s determined circumstances, whereas concurrently conveying the humor and madness of this story. It is awfully properly written.”

LA- and London-based Avatar’s Larry Robinson is producing, together with former MTV Films head David Gale. They haven’t but set a lead, however are “at present going out to a serious 60-ish male star to play Peckinpah.”
