Piano demo, recorded in both late 1971 or early 1972, impressed by singer’s encounter with actual property agent

Joni Mitchell has shared her never-heard track “Like Veils Said Lorraine” from the upcoming third volume of her vault-opening Archives sequence.

The two-minute piano demo, recorded in both late 1971 or early 1972 at Hollywood’s A&M Studios, was impressed by “a bit of dialogue that occurred with the real-estate girl who confirmed her properties in British Columbia,” Mitchell recalled to her official web site. (Lorraine is presumably the actual property agent.)

Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975) — focusing on the fruitful four-year stretch that yielded her traditional LPs For The RosesCourt And Spark, and The Hissing Of Summer Lawns — options dozens of unheard recordings, together with early demos and alternate variations, in addition to unreleased dwell performances and extra.


Other highlights from the third quantity are a pair of tracks from Mitchell’s December 1971 recording session with Graham Nash and David Crosby, a model of “You Turn Me On I’m A Radio” backed by Neil Young and the Stray Gators, a complete March 1974 efficiency from Los Angeles’ Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and extra. Mitchell additionally beforehand shared the demo of the Court And Spark hit  “Help Me” from the set.
