Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus has been roped in by Netflix to direct a three-part docuseries in regards to the serial killings of Gilgo Beach on Long Island.
Interestingly, Garbus, recognized for titles like What Happened, Miss Simone? and I’ll Be Gone within the Dark, beforehand collaborated with Netflix for the 2020 movie Lost Girls which revolved across the Gilgo Beach murders.
The new collection shall be based mostly on the serial killings of between 10 and 16 ladies who had been killed on Long Island within the ’90s and 2000s. With a lot of their stays being discovered on Gilgo Beach, Rex Heuermann of Massapequa Park was arrested in July after a brand new job power was created in February 2022. He was charged with three of the murders for which he has pleaded not responsible.
According to a press release by Netflix, “The collection will foreground the tales of the victims’ lives, with unique entry to their households, and study the historical past of the police investigation and up to date breakthroughs that led to the identification of Rex Heuermann, who had been hiding in suburban Long Island in plain sight.”
