Lyricist Mehboob talks about the distinction in the method songs have been made earlier. Also explains why at a time of quick shelf-life of music, his tracks Tu Hi Re and Chand Chupa Badal Mein proceed to be liked.

He penned songs for iconic movies equivalent to Bombay (1995), Rangeela (1995) and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), amongst others. Ask lyricist Mehboob which challenge he holds closest to his coronary heart and he says, “Since I began my profession with Bombay and Rangeela, they’re extraordinarily particular to me. They gave me an identification. I keep in mind at the time of Rangeela, I met AR Rahman (composer) and he provided me with Bombay. It was a proud second for me, as a result of these initiatives gave me lots of success and fame.”

While he’s comfortable together with his journey in the trade to this point, he feels there’s an absence of credit, which must be fastened. At the time of singing Tanha Tanha Yahan Pe Jeena (Rangeela), Asha (Bhosle, singer) didi stated, ‘Agar music jism Hota hai to singer zubaan aur lyricist ruh hote hain. Ruh nahin toh kuch nahin.’ I feel lyricists deserve the same form of recognition and credit that composers and singers get. The function of a lyricist is as necessary as both of them,” says the 60-year-old.

Most movie songs are recognized to have a brief shelf-life lately. But his numbers equivalent to Tu Hi Re, Rangeela title tune, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam title monitor and Chand Chupa Badal Mein, amongst others, have earned cult standing. So a lot so that they resonate with the youth immediately as effectively. Mehboob says, “They immediately join along with your coronary heart and soul. These days, we might make lots of romantic songs that had stunning lyrics, wonderful melody and compositions, and fabulous voices. That made them timeless.”

He says that the ambience inside a recording studio performs an enormous function in defining the longevity of a tune. “Music is sweet even immediately, however, the ’80s or ’90s music was full of gorgeous melodies and considerate lyrics. Back then, the musicians and composers would sit collectively for around 5 hours and talk about the scenario and rhythm of a tune. It was a lot of enjoyable. I miss that,” he ends.
