Shekhar Kapoor, who turns 77 on December 6, began his profession as an actor.

His co-star in Toote Khilone and Ishq Ishq Ishq was Shabana Azmi.

When Shekhar turned director with the landmark movie Masoom in 1983, Shabana performed the main woman.

Thirty 9 years later, Shabana performs one of many leads in Shekhar Kapur’s What’s Love Got To Do With It.

“When I did M asoom

with Shekhar, he used to like his actors,” Shabana tells Subhash Ok Jha. “He continues to take action. He would not impose; he creates the area through which creativity can flourish.”

“Although I used to be working with him after such a very long time, it did not appear as if there had been a break. It appeared precisely like previous occasions, besides that this time, I used to be working with the likes of Emma Thompson and Lily James. In reality, Emma and I grew to become actually good associates, because of this movie.”

 

Shabana remembers Shekhar as a seeker: “He is a restless soul, at all times searching for and engaged with bigger points like the aim of existence. It might sound esoteric and even pretentious to some, however I do know he was like that way back to in 1974, after we labored collectively as actors in Ishq Ishq Ishq, which Shekhar’s uncle Dev Anandsaab directed.”
