Just if you thought 2023 was going to be a good 12 months on the motion pictures, with a prehistoric shark for firm, comes Shotgun Wedding. It will not be even the sort of existentially unhealthy movie that prompts you to debate your home in the world. Shotgun Wedding is simply dreadful in a boring, half-hearted means. It is much more appalling to observe JLo stuck in such a demeaning train.
Darcy (Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) are getting married in a stunning island in the Philippines. Like all weddings, there may be stuff to navigate regardless of the perfect efforts of the supervisor, Marge (Selena Tan from Crazy Rich Asians). Darcy doesn’t need her super-rich dad, Robert (Cheech Marin) to pay for it and Tom needs to offer Darcy the proper marriage ceremony, whereas proving to his in-laws that he’s the suitable man for his or her child lady.

Darcy’s sister Jamie (Callie Hern andez) is a little bit of a wild little one and doesn’t flip up in time to do Darcy’s hair as she is getting as much as a spot of no good with finest man Ricky (Desmin Borges). With Jamie not round to curb her future mother-in-law, Carol’s (Jennifer Coolidge) excesses, Darcy finally ends up with one thing resembling a “rental” on her head.
Darcy’s dad and mom are separated and her mum, Renata (Sônia Braga) in between dismissing Tom as a groomzilla (he does need all the things to be simply so, together with the pineapple centrepieces) complains about Robert’s girlfriend, Harriet (D’Arcy Carden) smiling at her.
To make issues worse, Darcy’s ex boyfriend, Sean (Lenny Kravitz) makes a splashy chopper drop on the marriage ceremony (though he didn’t RSVP). He hijacks Tom’s speech with delicate and humorous recollections of his time with Darcy in the Peace Corps in Bali, and charms all the marriage company, together with Tom’s quiet, unassuming father Larry (Steve Coulter).
Then because the company are ready for the bride to stroll down the aisle, whereas the blissful couple are having a shouting match with a lot “you saids” being thrown round, come the pirates. Shotgun Wedding is meant to be Die Hard at a marriage ceremony… detective John McClane is not going to be saying Yippee-Ki-Yay to that anytime quickly.
The jokes fall flatter than yesterday’s uthappam and blowing up brains will not be in excellent style. There is the rom-com, the motion movie, the action-comedy or the Tarantino-style dismemberment with gouts of blood. Sad to substantiate this one doesn’t fall into any of these classes. Shotgun Wedding lives in its personal particular cell of hell, the place horrible motion pictures go to die.
