Motown legend Smokey Robinson is about to return together with his first album of all new materials in over decade, and he’s left completely nothing to the creativeness with the title: Gasms.
The silk-voiced singer-songwriter teased the LP with a brand new single, “If We Don’t Have Each Other,” which finds Robinson delivering devoted traces over sultry guitar and snappy manufacturing.
“I selected this music as the primary single of my new album as a result of it’s completely different musically and has a slide dance feeling to it… which is completely different from what I’ve ever completed earlier than,” Robinson stated of the brand new tune in a press release. “It additionally has a present rhythm of at this time that I like, and I hope everybody else does too.”
Gasms — which is about to arrive April 28 — is Robinson’s first album of all new materials since 2009’s Time Flies When You’re Having Fun. News of Gasms arrives as Robinson and Motown founder Berry Gordy prepare to be honored because the 2023 MusiCares Persons of the Year. The duo can be feted with an all-star tribute live performance subsequent Friday, Feb. 3, two nights earlier than the Grammys. The present will function performances from John Legend, the Isley Brothers, Michael McDonald, Brandi Carlile, Dionne Warwick, Sheryl Crow, Chloe x Halle, and extra.
